Umm Qais, also known as Gadara, and Tabaqat Fahil, also known as Pella, were once Decapolis cities. Umm Qais stands on a magnificent hilltop overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee. It has remarkable ancient ruins, like the stunning black basalt theatre, the basilica, the colonnaded main street and an underground mausoleum. Pella is exceptionally rich in old antiquities.

You can see the remains of a Chalcolithic settlement from the 4th millennium BC, evidence of Bronze and Iron Age walled cities, Byzantine churches, early Islamic residence and a small medieval mosque.
