A short drive west of Jerash through pine forests and olive groves, we reach Ajloun. At a mountaintop there, we find Ajloun Castle, Qala'at Al-Rabad.

The castle is one of the best-preserved and most complete examples of medieval Arab-Islamic military architecture. This castle helped to defeat the Crusaders eight centuries ago. It towers above the green hills and can be seen from many kilometers away. From the top of the castle, you have a panoramic view of the Jordan Valley and the highlands of north Jordan

Ajloun has beautiful forests that make it ideal for picnics and day trips including various and extensive walking trails.
